The Tiaras and Bowties Children’s Gala in support of the Association for Safe Alternatives in Childbirth (ASAC) was a fully loaded event complete with silent auction, dinner, dance, entertainment and a great deal of activities for children. Everyone who attended the Tiaras and Bowties Children’s Gala thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

Upon arriving at the Palace Banquet and Conference Facility, guests proceeded through a dazzling archway made up silver branches lit with bright white lights and sparkling teardrop diamonds and globes. Within, the perimeter along the walls of the hall were decorated with white drapery which was illuminated from below in a rainbow of colours that complimented the chair cover bows, table runners, and napkins. Waves of white fabric were gathered above the centre of the dance floor, while white convoluted spheres hung amidst the waves from the ceiling.

Various sponsors and vendors had tables set up where guests of all ages could have some fun. Princes and Princess could have their hair styled by Carolyn Schultz, Whitemud Crossing Chiropractors sponsored the Joyful Face Painting table, and Sparkle Tattoo Inc glittered up hands, arms, and shoulders, alike. Roots on Whyte Dental sponsored the photobooth fun and Ever After Princess Parties even invited Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty to the party! About half a dozen tables were laden with felt pens, foam stickers, and glitter glue so that the children could create crowns for themselves and colour sheets depicting cartoon castles with princes and princesses. There was also an informative display about alternatives for child birth along with stacks of the Birth Issues magazine.

The official portion of the evening started with some introduction by emcee Joelle from the Now! Radio’s Rob and Joelle Show. Everyone was encouraged to help themselves to the fantastic buffet dinner which had something for everyone from a variety of salads, to assorted veggies including fries and cut potatoes slices, and a range of meats such as roast beef, chicken Kiev, and ham. Dessert consisted of a chocolate mousse cake and a creamy lemon cheesecake.

Once the guests had filled their plates, students of a variety of ages from Jeon’s Traditional Taekwondo showed off their moves and board-breaking prowess. Following this vigorous display, Amara Kotylak demonstrated some more elegant belly dancing movements.

After the entertainment, the official program concluded with a few speeches from the gala chairs and the raffle prize of a very nice puppet theatre. DJ Rubber Band then took the microphone and made for a fun evening of dancing with a wide range of music for all ages.

Flashworks Photobooth would like to thanks the organizers and sponsors of the gala for putting on such a fantastic event, and for inviting us to participate. We hope it becomes an annual event!
