Amazing Event for an Amazing Campaign

Flashworks was privileged to be a part of the recent University Hospital Foundation’s Brain Center Campaign “Taking Flight” fundraiser. “Taking Flight” was an event to behold and ranks in our top-five coolest events in our 10 years of operation. The UHF’s Brain Center Campaign seeks

“…to raise $35 Million to create a brain centre of international stature [to] provide patients at the University of Alberta Hospital with the next generation of the most advanced treatment options and diagnostic technology and create an optimal environment for coordinated care to brain patients from Edmonton, Northern Alberta, Western Canada and the Territories.”

Travel and Luxury

Held at the Aurora Jet Partners hanger at the EIA, Comlinks Events and Marketing put together an amazing experience of travel and luxury, a theme central to the grand prize of the evening. Included in the $750 ticket price of the event was the chance to win a 3 day trip to Napa, California, valued at $40,000. Transportation to and from Napa is provided by Aurora Jet Partners on a private Learjet with one day at a Napa Valley vinyard, one at the Audi test track driving a supercar and a final day at a luxury spa.

Within the hangar the main attractions were a Learjet manned by an attractive flight crew, which guests could board and tour Learjet, and a selection of supercars including a Maserati Quattroporte, a Lamborghini LP 700-4 Roadster, an Audi R8, a Ferrari 488 GTB, an Aston Martin DB8 and a Rolls Royce Wraith to quicken the pulse. Dancers from Firefly Theatre poured champagne upside down as they dangled from the ceiling and entertained guests with a routine of twists and contortions. A delectable range of appetizers and tasty morsels complemented an assortment of beverages mixed by skilled attendants.

Furthering the theme of the grand prize, guests could step before our green-screen to be instantaneously transported to California with background images of Napa Valley and vinyards. A large TV in front of the booth displayed a live green-screen preview while the side of the booth presented a slideshow of sponsor logos and live snapshots from the booth as they were taken. Each step of the photo booth experience was branded with University Hospital Foundation Brain Center Campaign logos and graphics.

And when the moment that everyone was waiting for arrived, a Firefly Theater dancer descended from the ceiling to draw the winning grand prize ticket from a suitcase. Suspense and amazement! It was a night that will not be quickly forgotten, which raised $250,000 towards this fantastic cause.
