Flashworks Photobooth was honoured to be invited to entertain Mr. Frank Flaman’s guests at his 5th annual Fundraising Dinner and Silent Auction.

The Frank Flaman Foundation was created to assist existing charitable organizations in provide their valuable services to the community. The projects are funded by Frank’s share of the company profits and private donations. For many years, Frank Flaman has helped with countless charities and organizations throughout the world. Every year, the Frank Flaman Foundation donates $1 million with half the money going to local charities and the other half helping organizations in the developing world. This year’s fundraising gala held at the Westin saw about 400 guests come together to raise money and awareness for these charities. Eleven special charities were honoured at the gala and their work was showcased in the foyer leading to the ballroom. These charities included the Alberta Diabetes Foundation, Change for Children, Crystal Kids, E4C – School Lunch Programs, Kids Kottage, Leprosy Mission, Lurana Shelter, Mennonite Central Committee (MCC), Operation Eyesight, Room to Read, and Youth Emergency Shelter Society (YESS). Oxfam and The Salvation Army were also recognized, and the Salvation Army’s band entertained guests during the cocktail hour. Volunteers from the Alberta Diabetes Foundation manned the registration desks, processed auction items, and provided interesting information about this years honoured charities. They were very polite, professional and helpful.

The decor was Flaman red with red balloons, red gerber daisies, and red bows on the chair covers. The balloons were key in the balloon raffle with one lucky person winning a week at the Fairmont Hot Springs by popping one lucky balloon. Master of Ceremonies Danny Hooper kept the mood lighthearted and fun. He was also the auctioneer for the evening and drummed up bids for the seven live auction items with intriguing titles such as, Adventure Lover’s Experience, West Coast Getaway, Ultimate Indulgence Package, A Fitness Enthusiast’s Dream, Oilers – Up Close and Personal, Southern Exposure and Wine Lover’s Collection. However, the silent auction items were just as impressive with a wide array of items such as tools, artwork, home decor pieces, jewelry, and even tech items including a laptop, a blu-ray player, and an ipod and ipad. And a Flaman vibration trainer was given away to a guest with the “Health” inspirational keyring.

Throughout the evening, guest came to our photobooths to strike a pose with friends and coworkers, and spicing up their outfits with feathers, rubber chickens, hats, and goofy glasses. They had the choice of a different print layout for each booth, but no matter which they chose, their laughter filled the foyer. And Peter and Megan from Piotr and Megan Photography took somewhat more formal portraits and group shots against their wide red backdrop and provided guests with 5×7 print souvenirs of the evening.

A special thanks to event sponsor Crystal Glass, and Gold sponsors Meridian Manufacturing Group, Southland Trailers, and Trailtech. Yellow Tail was the wine sponsor and Bunches Flower Co. provided the flowers. And of course, thank-you to all the guests for attending and being so generous with their donations and bids!

Congratulations to the Frank Flaman Foundation for a successful event!
