The Grand Opening of the Courtyard by Marriott

The people at the Marriott sure know how to throw a party, as demonstrated at the Grand Opening of the Courtyard by Marriott on Edmonton’s west end. Flashworks Photobooth was honoured to be part of this historic occasion as people of influence came together to celebrate the Marriott’s newest hotel in Edmonton.

A “fire and ice” theme was central to the decor of the party, where “fire” was the light emanating from the newest light of the west end while “ice” symbolized the refreshing open concept design of the Courtyard. “Ice” was made evident through ornate and massive ice sculptures doing double duty both as amazing masterpieces but also chilling wine and seafood dishes. And “fire” illuminated the walls radiating from torches and effects projectors.

The variety food being served was unparalleled. Servers distributed elegantly styled hors d’oeuvres, wine, and punch and numerous food “stations” provided a range of dishes including banana flambe, soups, roti of chicken, beef or vegetable, lamb or beef skewers prepared on salt bricks, and an omail Egyptian dessert. Throughout the evening guests enjoyed a myriad of drinks from wine to martinis, and The Geris Project entertained with great live music from a gamut of genres and styles.

Gillian Foote from 100.3 The Bear was the hostess for the event and gave away numerous door prizes of generous accommodations at Marriott and Hilton Hotels across Canada. Platinum Investments presented a video showcasing the Marriott family-values of respect and a strong work ethic, and informed guests about a new hotel being built as part of the Edmonton International Airport expansion.  Mayor Stephen Mandel also took the stage to praise the new Courtyard by Marriott and to applaud Marriott’s developments in Edmonton. It was interesting to learn from the Mayor that Edmonton is the fastest growing multicultural center in Canada.

The grand opening of the Courtyard by Marriott was a great event. Everybody loved the venue, the decor, the food, the hospitality, and our photo booth, of course!
