Jodie & Mikey

Flashworks Photobooth would like to wish Jodie and Mikey all the very best on their wedding and to congratulate them on an extraordinary wedding at the Banff Springs Hotel.

The weather was perfect for Jodie’s and Mikey’s wedding and the view from Mount Stephen Hall was equally spectacular set amongst the scenic vista of the Rocky Mountains. Purple and gold were the theme of the evening. Upon entering the hall, guests were able to sign a guest book laid on a golden table beneath a large photo depicting Jodie and Mikey on the deck of a ship with a tropical sunset behind them. Flanking each side of  this photo were two tall vases of purple roses, and to the left of the guestbook table was an easel elegantly illustrating the seating arrangement in alphabetical order.

Each guest table was clad with a gold table cloth in the middle of which stood a tall vase filled with a dozen long-stemmed purple roses in purple water. Around each table were gold chairs with white cushions upon each of which sat a box tied with a shimmering purple ribbon and containing the wedding favour of an elegant wine glass etched with Jodie’s and Mikey’s names and an emblem of Banff. Each place setting had a gold napkin delicately folded around a gold and purple menu card. The head table featured long and flowing gold drapery with a tall vase of roses on each end and with five smaller flower arrangements interspersed between them. The bride and groom sat on two throne-like wooden chairs each with a tall white candle before them on the table. And to the left of the head table stood a white multi-tiered wedding cake adorned with splashes of purple roses.

During the cocktail hour, guests were treated to beverages and a range of hors d’oeuvres. They socialized around gold draped cocktail tables and listened to the Latin instrumentals of Los Del Fuego into dinner (we really enjoyed their Latin version of the old-school Spiderman theme song). The MC announced the entry of the bride and groom whom entered the hall to Beyonce’s “Crazy In Love.” Jodie’s grandmother said grace with a stirring and heartfelt prayer in Spanish which was translated by Jodie’s niece. Dinner was superb starting off with tomato and basil bruschetta and caesar salad, with a choice of New York steak, salmon or chicken breast for a main course. Of course, the dessert of milk chocolate mousse was equally delectable.

Some short speeches followed dinner after which Adam from the Banff Entertainment Company started spinning the tunes that kept the guests moving until midnight. At one point during the night, one of our feather boas was commandeered and used as an impromptu limbo bar, the results of which were definitely fun to watch. It was also fun watching guests of all ages not quite remembering how to dance to the Macarena.

The late lunch was a mix of sweet and salty with two types of wedding cake, mini-hamburgers skewered with an olive and pickle, and “mini-cones” of french fries. Once again, it was all very tasty.

Jodie and Mikey, thanks for having us at your wedding! We had a great time with your energetic and friendly family and friends. Best wishes to you both!
