We’d like to extend a great big thank-you to Virgin Radio for inviting us to Dylan and Pepper’s Homecoming Party hosted at the Edmonton Event Centre and headlined by Simple Plan.

Along with the great atmosphere, the evening had a fantastic entertainment line-up as well. The crowd had a very positive and upbeat attitude towards everything that happened during the night. When they first came within sight of the photo booth they got really excited and wanted to take pictures to have for keep sakes.  Guests had the opportunity to snap a photo with a cut-out of Rihanna, which if uploaded to Virgin Radio’s Facebook page, could win them tickets to see Rihanna in Barbados.  Patrons were greeted by remixes of popular tunes by the Virgin Radio DJs, followed by a great set from Justin Blais who played  a number of this own songs along with a few covers in his own distinctive style. Pepper and Dylan then made an appearance and were simply hilarious. While Simple Plan was playing they danced around and took pictures with the kids in the crowd and came to our photobooth to snap a few photos with their cardboard cut-out counterparts.

Having Simple Plan playing there for free as a gift for the upcoming graduates of Slave Lake was incredible. The brain-child of Dylan and Pepper and Simple Plan, they wanted to help out the Slave Lake Community ravaged by recent fires and decided on giving the Slave Lake graduating class a treat. What kid doesn’t want a free concert along with some free pizza? Simple Plan hasn’t played in Edmonton for a while and gave off a fantastic energetic vibe. It wasn’t only their music that pumped people up, but they spoke with the crowd and interacted with them more than most bands. Later on before the end of the concert, the lead singer stayed on stage while the other band members went out into the crowd and mingled with the kids and the other people in the crowd. Concluding the show with an acoustic version of the their song “Perfect,” the evening let out with a relaxed and calm air. It was a great way to end the show.

It was a very well organized event that appealed to all ages.  Everyone had happy expressions on their faces throughout the night. This evening was quite the success and thanks to the entire Virgin Radio crew for putting it on!
