Candace & Evan!

Candace and Evan had a beautiful fall themed wedding surrounded by those whom care about them and Flashworks Photobooth was fortunate to be a part of their special day.

The newlywed’s festivities were held an hour north of Grande Prairie in a town named Spirit River. Within the walls of the Spirit River Hall, long rectangular tables were set-up with centerpieces of red, orange, yellow and white gerber daisies on a tablecloth of white. On either side of these centerpieces floated the blooms of ornamental sunflowers in shallow bowls next to delicate white organza bags fill of sunflower seeds. The stage area, as well as the front of the head table, saw white tulle accented with a string of white mini-lights and a colourful assortment of leaves draping down from their leading edges. Unique to the head table were miniature little suits and dresses that we later found out were wine bottle and beer bottle covers. Mini-lights hung in long curves from the beams of the ceiling and colourful foliage decorated the wedding cake table which featured the three-tier chocolate puffed wheat wedding cake, topped with a cheerleading bride and hockey-playing groom. To the right of the head table stood a hockey net the front of which was covered by a large piece of cardboard reading “shoot to kiss” and into the base of which was cut a hole double the size of a puck. If guests wanted to see the bride and groom kiss, they were required to score on the net through this small opening.

The Flashworks Photobooth was located near the entrance to the hall and next to the reception table where guests were encouraged to place a photo-strip of themselves into Candace and Evan’s scrapbook. They could also sign a square of a quilt, hand-made with love as a surprise for Candace and Evan by her grandmother.

After a celebratory shot, the bridal party made their entrance into the hall to the classic Hockey Night in Canada theme song. The groomsmen wore gray gray suits with ivory ties while the groom’s gray suit was set apart by a white vest and tie. The bridesmaids donned ivory coloured strapless dresses.

After a tasty buffet style dinner, a brief set of speeches followed concluded by thank-yous from the bride and groom. Candace prepared a separate touching speech for each of her bridesmaids, and one for Evan as well. As for Evan’s speech to Candace, he framed his words in a hockey metaphor. He described how preparing for the big day was similar to preparing for a big game, complete with lucky underwear and a “feel good, look good” pep talk and how after the “game” were autographs, a team photo, standing ovation, and a night of celebration after winning his “championship trophy.” Following this, a slideshow played in a corner of the hall, concluded by a song titled “Sunflowers Sing” written and performed by Candace for Evan.

Once a few tables were moved from before the stage, Evan and Candace had their first dance to Dean Brody’s “Wildflower.” For the rest of the evening, Andre the DJ played a wide range of music from a variety of genres that kept everyone entertained and the dance floor full. There were even a few fun games that Andre got the crowd involved in that elicited a lot of laughs.

And throughout most of the night, the Flashworks Photobooth was full of guests immortalizing the night for themselves and for the newlywed’s album. There was no shortage of laughs and snorts coming from within the booth as feather boas flew and side-burned glasses obscured faces.

Congratulations to Evan and Candace on your wedding day. We wish you health, happiness, and long lives together as your begin your journey as husband and wife.
