The Canadian Cancer Society in Edmonton kicked off their Relay for Life Leadership Summit at the Radisson Hotel, and Flashworks Photobooth was honoured to be part of such an amazing event.

The timeline of the Canadian Cancer Society was presented as guests walked into the reception area. Starting all the way back from the 1920-30’s, posters were presented in order of major significant events in the organization’s history. The Relay for Life movement actually started in 1999 in Ottawa, and has since spread other division, having raised $439 million to this date.

On the other side of the history timeline, was another timeline; this one being much more personal. Each and every guest had the opportunity to write the memory of a loved one in a particular year. You could see a glimpse of the motivation behind their attendance at the Relay for Life.

And so, the reception began: consisting of heartfelt speeches, tear-jerking moments, and a round off with some hilarious fun. A little Gangnam Style here and there accompanied very well with the plethora of costumes all the guests had on. Depending on the decade that the Relay for Life reception was celebrating, you could see anything from yellow suited gentleman, to poofy-haired roller girls.

As the serious recollections for their movement; their motivations and purpose of being there, came to a close, guests could take to some karaoke, dancing, and the photobooth for an evening of relaxing fun. As tunes such as Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody” were belted across the room, guests has an amazing time striking fun and ridiculous poses in front of the photobooth. The room exploded with laughter as guests continually challenged the capacity of the Flashworks Photobooth, even fitting 8 faces into the frame at some points.

A great night came to pass, but a great movement is here to stay, and Flashworks Photobooth would like to extend our gratitude to all those involved in this memorable evening and for inviting us to play a role.
